I have Secondary Progressive MS and have lived with the disease for twenty seven years. I have been under the care of a physician and neurologist for the past thirteen years. To this day, the only treatment that I have received is medication to relieve pain. Every two weeks, $300 is spent at the Pharmacist. I take high levels of…
The Madoff Syndrome
When Paul starts this letter with a disclaimer that he’s in debt to all the citizens of Rome. That’s no small confession. In that day there was possibly a million people living in the city of Rome. You would think that Paul would at least try to subdue his claim of guilt.
Insights from Romans
Here’s what I’m all about. I want to turn you on to reading and studying the Bible, applying it to your life and falling in love with God in the process. I pray that a God revolution will start around you while you love for God and engage in the plans that he has for [...]
Sink Into A New Life
Ever try to put on a piece of clothing that you had to fight to get on? You may actually succeed to get it on, but then it rides up, twists and if you don’t watch it carefully, it pops open. You can buckle it up but you have to submit to the technique of lying on the bed and then you do the suck-in-your-gut and buckle routine. And then there’s the time…

Too Heavenly Minded?
“Things above” even sounds futuristic. Next thing I know they’ll want us to put on some sci-fi costume and join a Star Wars fan club. Things above seems so far out there and certainly does not relate to my life down here. I already know that I’m going to heaven. Perhaps just knowing that fact is what Paul’s getting at.
Don’t Send God Your Sour Grapes
Paul writes a letter to the Church in Collose where there is a serious issue he wants to address. He starts the letter by telling them that every time he prays for them that his thoughts go directly to the things he’s thankful for. Paul doesn’t start the letter off this way because he needs to “butter them up” before he gives them bad news. I really think that it comes from a choice to think of reasons to give thanks to God.
What happened to Church Discipline?
Church discipline seldom happens today and so we have to beg the question why. Some Churches will tell you they have conducted Church discipline but when you examine it further, it is usually the person that few people know and you’re confident that they’ll just go away quietly. It is seldom, if ever, the one with power and money. And so what’s the issue?
God’s Story in Your Life
Acts 25:13-27Acts 25:13-27English: World English Bible – WEB13 Now when some days had passed, Agrippa the King and Bernice arrived at Caesarea, and greeted Festus. 14 As he stayed there many days, Festus laid Paul’s case before the king, saying, “There is a certain man left a prisoner by Felix; 15 about whom, when I was at Jerusalem, the chief [...]
Everyone Stay at the Table!
It happened most every time our church had a guest speaker. At least that’s how it seemed to an eight-year-old boy. The preacher would always find a way to guilt parents into having family devotions. I still remember the shaking finger that seemed to reach way out into the audience.
Are We There Yet?
We’ve driven 20 minutes when we heard the first “are we there yet?” Heidi and I chuckle. We glance at each other in an all-knowing smile. It seemed like just a few years back that we were answering that question. Cute that it started within the first 20 minutes.
